The Right Nourishment

When children eat well, their concentration is enhanced, they have fewer sick days, higher energy levels and are more likely to grow and develop to their full potential.

By providing a diverse menu (with local and international flavours) that meets the majority of childrens’ nutrition requirements, we support the health and wellbeing of all children under our care.

We also place a strong emphasis on helping them develop healthy eating habits from a young age and nurturing their enjoyment of food as soon as they begin their eating journey.

A Menu Curated By A
Professional Dietitian

Our menu and healthy eating policy are designed and developed by Vanessa McNamara — The Travelling Dietitian who has over 20 years experience working as a dietitian around the world. Vanessa holds a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney and has a special interest in helping families achieve a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing their enjoyment of food.

Having her own children has helped her understand that there are many challenges associated with feeding children. She believes that teaching them about nutrition from a young age and feeding them appropriately from the beginning will prepare them for a healthy future.

Adherence to national and
international guidelines

In designing the menu for Tots & Teddies, Vanessa guarantees we are meeting both national and international guidelines for the provision of meals in early childhood education and care services.

She adheres to the Healthy Meals in Childcare Centres Programme (HMCCP) developed by the Health Promotion Board of Singapore. She has also extensively consulted guidelines from around the world to ensure we are providing the healthiest meals of the highest quality.

She will be available for individual consultations to Tots & Teddies parents if they would like more individualised advice.

Fresh, Nutritious Meals by Our
In-House Chef

Balance is the key. All the recipes developed by our in-house chef have been approved by Vanessa and are served as part of a balanced meal.

What to expect

We have a relentless focus on sourcing quality ingredients – from cage free eggs and antibiotic-free chicken through to fresh Barramundi, Salmon and greek yogurt.

Our meals comprise whole grain carbohydrates, fresh fruit and vegetables, lean protein, dairy products and healthy fats with minimal use of added sugar, salt, saturated fats and processed foods. We make our own pasta, waffles, peanut butter and bread to ensure they are sugar and salt free.

Water and fresh milk are our drinks of choice along with the occasional inclusion of freshly prepared fruit smoothies. We also make our own in-house sugar-free soyabean milk.

Fulfilling dietary needs

We offer a 4-week cycle menu that’s both delicious and diverse, providing breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for children aged 1 to 6. For infants, we offer an age-appropriate nutrition menu with a range of pureed, mixed texture and finger foods.

These menus provide approximately 75% of your child’s recommended daily intake of nutrients when they are enrolled in our full-day care.

Meals are freshly prepared on site daily and special dietary needs can be accommodated for by our chefs and dietitian.

Seriously Fun Food

At Tots & Teddies we pride ourselves on our love of fresh, wholesome food and want your child to learn to do the same. We include children in food preparation where possible, such as making homemade pizzas together, developing their own smoothie combinations, decorating pancakes and growing their own herbs.

We also try to include food as part of their playtime. Examples include using edible play dough, making necklaces out of food and setting up food exploration stations. This introduces food in a fun, non-confrontational way to children and exposes them to the different sensory characteristics of food.

Collaboration with Parents

Our close partnership with parents is vital in enhancing children’s learning. That’s why we document children’s learning regularly and update parents on a daily basis.

In engaging parents to participate in activities; we invite them to join us in our Reading Programme, Home Projects, field trips and classroom or school activities. To ensure parents are well-informed of their children’s development, we provide regular updates to parents through our digital app, phone calls and email. In addition, we hold half-yearly parents-teachers meetings and at our year-end open house.
